Vitamins to keep cold sores from coming on
Some vitamins can help prevent cold sore outbreaks. These include vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, and zinc.
There are also dietary supplements and alternative remedies that are believed to be beneficial in treating the cold sores that arise from the herpes virus. These include:
Lysine, although doses smaller than 1 gram a day appear to be ineffective.
Aloe vera, which is available as a cream or gel. Many people believe this makes the affected area by the herpes virus heal faster.
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) may reduce symptoms (cold sores) in people infected with the herpes virus.
Carrageenans, which is extracted from red seaweed, are believed to have antiviral effects.
Garlic extract has been shown to have antiviral properties.
Prunella vulgaris, which is a plant commonly known as “selfheal,” can supposedly prevent herpes virus and cold sore outbreaks.
Perhaps the most effective treatment I’ve ever tried is the one outlined in the book Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days. Unfortunately, the writer of this book is very serious about protecting her copyright, so I can’t divulge the remedy here. But it’s the fastest way to get rid of cold sores that I know of.
You can download the contents of this ebook online here. It contains an easy-to-follow program that shows you how to get rid of cold sores forever. Forever is a long time, but it’s worked so far for me—and for many others I know who suffer from cold sores.
